CHIBA -- A dazzling lineup of custom cars and "race queen" models attracted fans during the recent "Tokyo Auto Salon 2011" show here.
The event took place from Jan. 14 to 16 at Chiba's Makuhari Messe convention complex, with a total of 361 automakers (including domestic giants Toyota, Nissan and Honda), auto parts manufacturers and custom car shops taking part. This year the number of exhibited cars was reduced from last year's 631 to 626, but an increase of major manufacturers from overseas, such as Fiat and Renault, added color to the show.
Alongside the custom cars, "race queens" (a Japanese term for promotional girls for motor racing) posed for photos.
