Not that you needed a reason to have sex more often, but infrequent sexual activity can be fatal for people who don’t exercise regularly.

It’s not as if you really needed a reason to have sex more often, but here’s a good one — infrequent sexual activity can be fatal … for layabouts who rarely exercise.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that in the first several hours following an uncommon strenuous activity — like shoveling snow or pouncing on Goombas — people who don’t exercise were five times more likely to suffer sudden cardiac death, while sex temporarily increased the danger of a fatal heart attack 2.7 times.

According to researches at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, each additional time an individual engaged in physical activity per week, the risk of a heart attack went down by roughly 45 percent, with the risk of sudden cardiac death dropping by 30 percent. People with regular exercise habits fared far lower on the your-heart-might-explode-due-to-sex chart, which is yet another reason to dust off that sleeveless T-shirt and get back in the gym.
