Cựu Thủ tướng Berlusconi chi 14 triệu USD "bịt miệng gái bán hoa"?

Trong phiên tòa hồi tháng 3/2015, ông Berlusconi đã được xử trắng án tội quan hệ với "gái bán hoa" tuổi vị thành niên và lạm dụng quyền lực để che đậy sự việc. Các công tố viên thành phố Milan cho rằng phiên tòa đã bị bóp méo bởi những khoản hối lộ hậu hĩnh mà bị cáo trả cho các nhân chứng.

IBTimes hôm 30/6 đưa tin ít nhất 7 triệu euro (khoảng 7,8 triệu USD) đã được trả cho cô Ruby Rubacuori để phủ nhận có quan hệ tình dục với ông Berlusconi khi cô mới 17 tuổi.

Theo công tố viên Tiziana Siciliano, khoản hối lộ gồm tiền mặt (ít nhất 800.000 euro) và nhiều lợi ích khác, bao gồm cả chu cấp vốn cho cô này đầu tư tại Mexico và Dubai.

Một khoản 3 triệu euro (3,3 triệu USD) cũng được chi cho 20 cô gái từng tham gia các buổi tiệc sex mà ông Berlusconi tổ chức tại biệt thự Arcore của mình, với yêu cầu họ đưa lời khai giả tại tòa. Ngoài ra còn có nhiều khoản tiền được trả dưới dạng... lương tháng trong suốt 4 năm. Những khoản tiền đó sẽ được ngừng chi ra trong tuần này, khi cuộc điều tra về ông Berlusconi chính thức chấm dứt.

Hiện các thẩm phán đang xem xét xem khả năng mở một phiên tòa mới để xét xử ông Berlusconi về cáo buộc đưa hối lộ. Những nhân chứng bị cáo buộc nhận hối lộ trong phiên tòa trước và 13 người khác cũng đối mặt với nguy cơ bị truy tố.

Sau khi tin tức được công bố, các luật sư của ông Berlusconi thừa nhận thân chủ của họ đã chi tiền, nhưng biện minh rằng đó chỉ là “lòng trắc ẩn cố hữu” của vị cựu thủ tướng, bởi ông muốn đền bù cho các cô gái vì đã phải chịu khổ sở, điều tiếng khi ra tòa vì ông.

ROME - A FORMER showgirl turned local politician for Silvio Berlusconi's ruling party denied on Thursday accusations from prosecutors of being a 'brothel manager' for the Italian prime minister.
At a pre-trial hearing in Milan this week, a prosecutor accused Nicole Minetti, a local councillor for the People of Freedom party in the northern Lombardy region, of procuring young women for the 74-year-old Mr Berlusconi.
Interviewed by Italian daily Corriere della Sera, the 26-year-old brunette denied the charge, saying she was 'completely extraneous to the facts.' 'Me in a brothel? When I was born they didn't even exist,' she added.
Mr Berlusconi is a defendant in a separate trial on charges of paying for sex with a 17-year-old girl and then using the power of his office to try to cover up the crime - the latter charge punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
The prime minister and the girl in question, a nightclub dancer named Karima El Mahroug, better known by her stage name of 'Ruby the Heart Stealer', have denied having sex during allegedly raunchy parties at his villa near Milan.

ROME, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The trial over Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's sex scandal will begin Wednesday, but a top aide said Berlusconi would not appear in court.

Nor will television cameras, as Italian Attorney General Laura Bertole Viale and State Prosecutor Manilio Minale agreed to reverse a previous ruling that would have allowed state broadcaster RAI to film the trial. They said the ruling was changed to prevent the hearing from becoming a "circus."

But it seems impossible to prevent that. Protesters and supporters have both said they would gather in front of the Milan courthouse, where the trial will start at 9:30 a.m. (0730 GMT) Wednesday.

Hundreds of journalists have been reporting on every micro development from the case ever since it was announced in February. And the witness list includes American movie star George Clooney and his showgirl girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis.

Berlusconi is charged with paying for sex with a minor, a then-17-year-old cabaret dancer called Karima el-Mahroug, known by her nickname "Ruby the Heart Stealer."

The leader is also charged with abusing his position as prime minister to cover up his connection with el-Mahroug by pressuring police to release her from custody after she was detained over separate theft allegations.

The trial seems to be a kind of drama compared to the two other Berlusconi trials, where he faces much more technical charges including tax evasion and bribery.

According to Cabinet Undersecretary Gianni Letta, Berlusconi's closest aide, the prime minister will not be present for Wednesday's opening hearing, which is expected to focus mostly on procedural matters.

There is a chance that the trial could be aborted before it really gets under way. Italian lawmakers started debate Tuesday on a measure that could slow or even halt the proceedings.
They will decide whether the Milan court is the appropriate venue for the hearing, with Berlusconi's lawyers arguing that he should be tried before a special minister's tribunal given that the abuse of power charges relate to Berlusconi's position as prime minister.

However, the Constitutional Court ruled in March that the Milan court had the authority to handle the case.

But if parliament contradicts that ruling, the Constitutional Court would be forced to rule again and confirm the tribunal members.

Regardless of the parliamentary vote, Wednesday's hearing will take place. But if legislators vote against the court's authority, it means the trial could be halted in the future.

Berlusconi, a billionaire media tycoon who controls three of Italy's seven national television networks, denied wrongdoing in the case involving el-Mahroug as well as the others and insisted that he is a victim of the corrupt Italian judiciary.

As the cases approached, his ruling coalition fractured and his popularity dropped to nearly a historical low, but at least so far, his grip on power does not seem at risk.

Since he entered public life in 1994, Berlusconi has faced at least 17 official criminal and civil allegations.

MILAN, Italy, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The trial of Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi on charges of sex with a minor and abuse of power opened here Wednesday.

Neither Berlusconi nor the minor, dancer and teenage prostitute Karima el Mahrough, best known by her stage name "Ruby", attended the hearing, which lasted less than 10 minutes and was adjourned until May 31.

One of Berlusconi's lawyers, Giorgio Perroni, presented the court with a letter in which the premier said he would like to participate but was unable to because of "institutional commitments".

Security measures were tight around the courthouse in Milan, with about 100 police surrounding the building to prevent riots between groups of supporters and opponents of the premier gathered on a traffic island opposite the building.

More than 100 journalists from around the world requested accreditation for the trial, while TV crews, barred from the hearing, were setting up camp outside the courthouse.

The 74-year-old Italian premier is accused of paying for sex with Moroccan-born el Mahrough from February to May 2010 when she was 17 years old, and then abusing his power in trying to cover it up.

Both Berlusconi and el Mahrough, who is now 18, have denied any wrongdoing in the case.

Cảnh sát thành phố Milan từng bắt Mahroug vì tội lấy cắp 3.000 euro của một người bạn vào mùa hè năm ngoái. Nhưng sau đó cô được phóng thích nhờ sự can thiệp từ hai trong số ba trợ lý của ông Berlusconi. Đó là Dario Mora và Emilio Fede.

Nhóm công tố viên sử dụng nội dung những cuộc gọi của ông Berlusconi tới những phụ nữ tham gia tiệc và cuộc gọi của những người trợ lý tới Sở cảnh sát để yêu cầu thả Mahroug làm bằng chứng để buộc tội Thủ tướng Italy lạm dụng quyền lực. Mahroug cũng tuyên bố cô không lên giường với Thủ tướng và cũng chưa bao giờ làm gái điếm.

Trả tiền để quan hệ tình dục với gái điếm không phải là hành vi phạm pháp tại Italy. Tuy nhiên, luật cấm quan hệ tình dục với gái mại dâm dưới 18 tuổi.
